Espresso
from single origin to our Church Coffee Blend our espresso shines!
Espresso is a strong, thick, black coffee that's made by forcing hot water under high pressure through finely ground coffee beans. The brewing method and the ingredients used give espresso a different flavor and texture than regular coffee:
Pressure
Espresso is brewed using pressure, typically between 6 and 9 BAR, which is higher than other coffee brewing methods. This pressure extraction process draws out the coffee grounds' natural oils and gasses.
Grind
Espresso uses finely ground coffee beans, while regular coffee uses medium or coarser grounds.
Water to grounds ratio
Espresso uses a lower ratio of water to grounds than regular coffee.
Brewing time
Espresso has a faster brewing time than regular coffee, usually taking 20–30 seconds.
Crema
The result of air bubbles mixing with the coffee's oils, espresso has a light brown foam layer on top called the crema
